Hey, Five Alarm!
In the next couple of weeks we’ll be making some adjustments with how we do a couple things and wanted to give you a heads up!
- At some point in the next couple of weeks, we’ll shift away from posting a “Fitness” and “Performance” workout and start posting the daily workouts under one title. BUT DON’T WORRY! While you might see days with higher level gymnastics and/or Olympic weightlifting, there will ALWAYS be options for those who have no desire to learn or perform those movements! Even though you’ll only see one workout on the board, the Coaches (as always) will be briefed and ready with other preferred movement options during classes.
You’ll also notice many exercises will have two sets of weights listed. In general, the first weight is geared toward individuals who may desire to compete at a higher level in the sport of CrossFit, while the second weight is geared toward those desiring to overall fitness and health. For our purposes, BOTH sets of weights qualify as “Rx.”
Remember, the workout as written (including various movements and any Rx weight “prescriptions”) is only ever meant to serve as a GUIDE. The true goal is always to maintain the appropriate stimulus and to provide the best workout for YOU and your needs as an individual on any given day! That may mean modifying weights, movements, etc. - Similarly, we’re excited to bring an additional tool to your experience here at Five Alarm! While we’ve been using ZenPlanner for a while now, we’ve never been able to offer up it’s full potential until now. For the next week (the week of 8/12/19), our daily workouts will be posted to both the website and into the ZenPlanner app (after this week, they will be available exclusively on the app).
If you haven’t checked out the ZenPlanner app until now, I encourage you to sometime this week. That way if you have any questions you can run it by a Coach, ask in the Facebook group, etc. In addition to simply viewing the workouts, the ZP app allows you to check out the gym schedule, reserve a spot in classes, and see an attendance summary (consistency!). But maybe the best feature is that it provides you the ability to record your results from our daily workouts directly into the app! There’s even a separate tab to record and keep track of any “Benchmarks!”
Please bear with us as we switch as there may be a few kinks to work out. Again, at the end of the day, not much is changing. While the posting of the daily workout will be somewhat different, the nuts and bolts of coaching and running classes will be the same (nay, better)! And we’re very excited to be able to offer our athletes an improved experience through ZenPlanner!
Yours in Fitness,
Coach Josh
