Coach Erica discusses her why:
What is your “why?” Do you want to be healthy or develop muscles that are hibernating? Do you want to be able to pick up your kids/grandkids or do you want to get up from the floor without needing help? These are just a couple of “why” reasons for people to jump start into improving their health and wellness.
My initial “why” was a little different. I was in an accident in 2001 that resulted in me needing two back surgeries to implant titanium rods, screws, and hooks along my spine. Fast forward a few years and I was participating in low impact exercises (swimming, elliptical). I was also taking some major pain pills to function. It was not a fulfilling experience but, I thought that would be my life.
A few more years down the road, my husband and I had started our life together and even worked out together sometimes. So, why did I start Crossfit? I was tired of constantly being in pain, depending on pills for only minor relief and tired all the time. It was not an easy road, and sometimes there are still bumps in the road. However, with no more pills and more goals achieved then I could ever imagine a few years prior; my why has shifted. Now it is to maintain strength and listening to what I need, compete with myself and put in the work.
What is your why?
