Details
Internship opportunities are currently available through a partnership with Illinois State University’s Kinesiology & Recreation Department. As such, qualified candidates must be going through the university’s KNR 298 or KNR 398 class. Other desirable attributes include:
- Being a motivated learner
- Possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Maintaining a positive attitude
The intern position is extremely valuable to us at Five Alarm Fitness, and in return we make it a high priority to return that value to the interns.
Once accepted into an internship, students will act under the supervision of our experienced coaches and trainers. To some degree, they will be directly involved with nearly every aspect of operating a strength and conditioning facility, learning and practicing.
- Gym maintenance
- Administrative duties
- Athlete evaluation
- Movement and workout instruction
- Program design
Students without functional fitness experience will also be required to learn the basics of the methodology, and all interns are expected to partake in at least 2 small group sessions per week (at no cost). In addition, they will be expected to complete various projects or assignments depending on the time of year and upcoming community events.
How to apply
